We use the past ending -na when talking about anything that happened before right now. It could have happened yesterday, two weeks ago, or ten years ago. We use -na for all of these past times.

Elder Toomba often pronouns the 'i' in yanina quite long. It sounded a bit like yaniiina. But we don't have many more examples of these 'long' vowels in other words, so we're just writing it with one 'i'. Yanina.
